Re: Closing checking??Date: Thursday, December 18, 2003
Time: 7:54:22 pm Do you mean checking & savings accounts? I use to work for a bank, and I
know we use to close accounts that had a zero balance in it and no activity
for a while. I never heard of closing an account with money in it, unless it
was upon the customers request. They can't close your checking or savings
account unless you used them as collateral for your loans.

Ok, I have a question for you all. I'm hoping someone can help us. We
filed
bk in September, went to court in October and got our discharge last week.
Tonight, I got a call from our credit union. They said that since we
included a loan with them in the bankruptcy, they were closing our accounts,
effective tonight. They DID agree to honor any checks we had out (they'd
BETTER), but
we need to know, CAN they close our accounts? I have a call in to our
lawyer
to find out, but he won't call back till morning. I hate to have to find a
new bank right now, how on EARTH will I do that?? And it's NOT a good time,
I
was due on Monday with this baby, and it's not like I have time to go
searching banks......
Btw, I've been on no mail, getting ready for baby, but I'm back for a while
I
think, lol!.....unless baby comes soon......
