I filed for BK and my car was paid off. The only thing that they wanted to see was the title of the car when I went to court. I also work for a bankruptcy attorney and you can reaffirm any debt that you want to keep.

I do have a suggestion for you -- tell your husband. He's bound to find out and will probably we even more furious if he finds out after the fact.

Oh, I wanted to say more about the car. I have a car that is under my
name and my husbands and IT IS PAID OFF. He has a car that is only
under his name which is also paid off. He is NOT filing bankruptcy
only I am, does this have any effect on if they take my car or not.
If he is not filing bankruptcy and one of the cars is only under his
name they cannot take that car, right? Thanks
