You must have some other issue like low income or not
much credit. My clients buy homes two years after
bankruptcy if they have down payment and
qualifications. Those in houses when they file sell
and buy another. Chapter 7 only puts a 1 year
restriction on FHA approved loans, and those are most
loans.

BK is new life, not death. If death, then you
probably were on life support with or without the BK
in the first place.

Subject: Bankruptcy History

I know that bankruptcy stays on your credit history
for 10 years. My question is: after that period does
it automatically come off your history or do you have
to take steps to remove it? I filed 9 years ago and
have not had much luck getting a mortgage. This is my
only blemish in 25 years due to a divorce, but the
banks won't even talk to me. I have a secured credit
card and have made every payment on time and in full.
It seems BK is the mark of death.
