I know that after my brother filed bankruptcy--their daughter was able to
receive stafford loans in her name above the base amount normally allowed
because her parents were not able to obtain loans to pay her tuition---my brother
also was in college and he was able to get a stafford loan in his name for his
own tuition--this is because these loans are government backed loans and given
regardless of your credit history
