Deanna,

I don't know if this is an option where you live but in Kansas there
are two cities you can file bankruptcy in. Our local paper publishes
the names from the court in the nearest city, where most people file
because of the convenience. However, my attorney told me he can file
in the other city for an additional fee, to cover mileage & travel
time. I plan on doing that. My father, who reads that bankruptcy
section every Sunday, has serious health problems & I know my filing
would upset and worry him enough to cause complications. To me,
avoiding that is well worth an additional fee. If it weren't for
that, I'd save the money, file here & just prepare myself to join the
list of the dozens of people listed in that section. It would be
embarrassing, but I wouldn't be the only one there. Also, although
some people do read that section, remember that not everyone does.
And of those who do, many may be very close to being in that position
themselves and wishing they had the courage to take that step.
