I suspect she won't be able to discharge the debt because it would give the impression of fraud, which in my opinion, it is. And the attorney, creditors and trustee will see that it's debt accumulated from gambling. They may dismiss her case. Bankruptcy is for people who are in financial trouble usually from illness, death in the family, job loss, etc. Granted, people make unwise choices with their credit cards, get themselves into a hole they can't dig back out of and then file but come on! She got that far in debt because of a trip gambling in Vegas? That's what gives people who file bankruptcy a bad name. That's what makes the whole process so shameful. Anyway, enough of the lecture. Get a free consultation with an attorney. I suspect though that they'll tell you the same thing. Good luck and I'm so sorry for the mess she's created for the both of you.

Hey. My wife has recently maxed 3 credit cards gambling, during a
trip to Las Vegas recently. If her total debt is about 35k-45k,
what is her likelyhood of being able to file ch.7 bankruptcy, and
have the gambling debt discharged? She has never had any gambling
problems in the past, and she has an outstanding credit score, like
800 becon (sp?). Please help! Thank you very much for any help.
