Time: 9:51:12 am I'd wait...if you can keep making the payments in order to keep using the cards, get yourself situated with where you're going to live first. Once you file, those cards are gone and it will be a while before your credit's improved enough to get any more. I hope you find a job soon! We were in the same situation earlier this year.

Hi everyone,
Been reading the board for about 2 months to help me decide on my
options. I was laid off last year and as many folks do, i began my
own business. Unfortunately that hasnt really helped at all. Now
I've run through all of my savings and I've been living off my credit
cards for months. I had a substantial balance before, but it has
ballooned since my layoff. I am currently in IL, but I am at the
point that I need to consider moving back with family if I cannot get
a new job ASAP. I'm trying to determine if I should start my
procedings in IL even though I may be moving within a month or should
I wait until I either move back with family or move for another job
and then file. I am concerned that if I were to file now, i will
lose my only source of funds, credit cards, and then have a difficult
time getting a new lease. Would I be better served to wait it out a
month or so and hope to land a new job and then file once I have
settled in?
Thanks for any input.
