I am not very experienced with all of this either as we have just started
the ball rolling on a chapter 7 BK. My husband has a pretty good paying job
now but the creditors will not back off and wait or make any kind of affordable
payment options for us. We had our first meeting with an attorney last week.
My husband said to her "I am 55 years of age so please do not sugar coat
anything for me. Will I ever get my credit back?" She told us that filing
bankruptcy actually does raise your credit scores. She also said that within months of
our discharge we will most likely get tons of pre-approved credit card offers.
She told us to use our heads wisely and read everything before deciding to
take any of these or which one to take. Showing how well you manage your new or
existing credit afterwards has alot to do with getting your credit back. There
is also a very good book out that helps with this. The title and author are
not coming to me now but I'm sure someone will post it for you. It is in
several past postings also. I am going out to purchase this book this weekend right
after we send our payment to the attorney. And stay reading this forum. You
will learn so much and actually start feeling better about yourself. Hope this
helps a little.
